Well, if you’ve been looking for a rooftop restaurant in South Charlotte, Restoration Hardware is here to save the day. The gorgeous three-story furniture store and design gallery opened in June and is for sure a most have dining experience.
The rooftop restaurant might not have amazing views like uptown but what RH lacks in views it is sure to make up in its aesthetic. The restaurant is enclosed with windows which makes it great for a year-round vibe. Be sure to call ahead as this restaurant is reservations only. Which is great because who wants to wait around anyway (especially during the pandemic). This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Which makes sense, right? I mean the restaurant is on top of a design gallery. You could probably sit just about anywhere and get a perfect photo for Instagram
Make sure you come dressed to impress. A midi dress or nice blouse paired with a skirt would work perfectly. A cute sweater with some leather leggings would also work for colder weather. You can definitely get away with wearing jeans but just make sure to dress it up with some heels. The restaurant is a perfect backdrop for some bomb photos so make sure you’re dressed for that photo worthy moment.
One thing the rooftop restaurants in Uptown don’t offer is plenty of parking. That’s definitely a plus at RH. It’s also located 5 mins from SouthPark Mall which makes it a perfect spot to grab lunch or dinner after a day of shopping.
So, the important part… How was the food? I will be honest in the fact that I looked at the menu and some reviews online prior to arriving and most of them said great vibes/aesthetic but that the food was just ok. I wasn’t expecting much from this experience except to get some amazing photos and a few glasses of bubbly. But trust me when I say the food was amazing. The only downfall is the menu doesn’t have that many options. Full disclosure – I am a very picky eater and I was able to find something on there for me. They could definitely have more options, but I still think there’s a little something for everyone.
I went with my line sister and we started off with the Crispy Artichokes. This was my first-time trying artichokes, but they were flavorsome. Underneath the artichokes were potatoes slices which were good as well. For my main I got the Roasted Half Chicken which came with mash potatoes and gravy. (I know the menu makes it sound all fancy, but it was just meat and potatoes.) The chicken was so flavorful, tender and juicy and the mash potatoes were pureed so the consistency was perfect. My line sister got the Broiled Salmon and Truffle Fries. Again, the Salmon was seasoned to perfection and was a fair portion size. I will definitely be getting the salmon and wild mushrooms next time I go.
As far as beverages go, they only sell beer and wine which was a bummer for me because I like to spike my champs with a splash of tequila. I started off with a Bellini and ended with a Chardonnay (Aerena) and they did the job quite well. Even though they don’t serve liquor they have a pretty nice wine list to choose from.
The service was impeccable. You know how sometimes your waiter can be too attentive and its borderline harassment but sometimes they never check on you and it feels like you’re waiting 45 minutes to order your next cocktail. Well the service at RH was spot on. I never had to get our waiters attention. We were taking lots of photos to capture the experience and our server never rushed or interrupted us. He was always there when we finished to see if we needed anything else.
For the location, service and aesthetic I think the pricing is pretty fair. The appetizers and sides are sized for the table and intended to be split with your party. The Bellini and Mimosa’s are $15/glass. The range for wine by the glass is $14 to $35. This might not be the best option if you are trying to overindulge in champs. I would definitely recommend buying by the bottle if you plan on getting more than one glass of anything.
RH is a fabulous addition to South Charlotte. I would definitely come back to dine and have a few glasses of wine. This is probably not a restaurant I would visit on a regular basis. I can totally see myself coming back here for a special occasion such as birthday or anniversary dinner. Let me know if you stop by!
