This is such a fall drink and it’s been my go-to lately. I love the color and the refreshing taste of the fresh mint. It’s perfect for hosting at home or drinking while spending your Friday night binge watching your favorite tv show.
What you’ll need for one serving:
- 3-4 Blackberries
- 2-3 mint leaves
- 2 oz simple syrup
- 1 oz lemon juice
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1 oz club soda
- ice
- muddler
So you can make this recipe in a shaker or in the glass you’ll be drinking from. If it’s just me and I’m just making a cocktail after work, I will usually just make it in the glass (less dishes to clean up afterward). If I am hosting and have guest over, I will make it in the shaker so I can make more than one at a time.
Start by putting your blackberries and mint leaves in your glass or shaker. Muddle until blackberries/mint leaves are crushed up. Add bourbon, simple syrup, lemon juice, and club soda. Add ice and shake.
Stir if you’ve been pouring straight into the glass and shake shake shake your shaker! Garnish with some mint leaves on top.
Tips and Tricks:
- Maker’s Mark is a pretty strong bourbon. You can scale the bourbon back to 1.5 oz if you need to.
- I’ve started making my own simple syrup. It is very easy to make. 1 cup of water for 1 cup of sugar. Just boil some water and stir until the sugar dissolves. Our course you can add more simple syrup to the drink if you want it too be sweeter.
- More blackberries you add the darker the cocktail will be if you’re looking for a particular color.
- I don’t really like carbonated drinks but if you do you can add more club soda to the cocktail.
